About Turbulent Flux

In the on-going digitalization of the oil-industry, massive amounts of sensor-data are gathered in large data-platforms. There is a huge potential for improving the day-to-day operations using these data. Despite the large potential, this has only been explored to a very small degree in domain software so far. Turbulent Flux are working on ways to do this in our Physical Analytics software solution to simulate multiphase flow in pipelines.

Turbulent Flux was founded in 2016 by experts in Multiphase Flow Simulator software and business development, with the goal of developing a cloud-based multiphase flow simulator technology to support oil field operations. We remain committed to taking the use of such simulators in oil-field operations to the next level. This means analyzing and presenting results from advanced numerical simulations to support day-to-day operations in a producing oil-field. The team currently consist of 8 ambitious and talented people at our office in downtown Oslo, with extensive experience from both the Oil & Gas and IT industries.

Available Positions

Senior data scientist

We need to strengthen the technical team with an experienced, hands-on data-scientist, to be the technical lead on the development of pattern recognition software used to augment our multiphase flow-simulator. You will be instrumental in finding the best direction for the technology with respect to data-analysis and lead the continuous development activity within this subject. Development will consist both of in-house projects and consultants.

Key qualifications

  • Minimum Master’s degree in data science, mathematics, statistics, informatics or similar.
  • Extensive experience in the development of numerical or statistical simulation software.
  • Extensive experience with all phases of software development.
  • Python, Statistics, Keras/Tensorflow, XGBoost.

Nice to have

  • Experience in software development in JavaScript and/or C++.
  • Familiarity with
    • API design and frontend development
    • Cloud architecture and deployment
    • Real-time databases
    • Transient fluid flow

Senior project engineer

The project portfolio in Turbulent Flux is growing, and we are about to build up a project engineering team. You will help in building this team and handle the day to day business of team on delivering projects. You will work closely with the software development team to improve the solution based on project experiences, and to test improvements in the software solution in customer projects. You will be instrumental in finding the best direction for the technology based on customer project execution.

Key qualifications

  • Minimum Master’s degree within flow assurance related competency and a minimum of 10 years of experience from the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Extensive experience with flow assurance related technologies such as multiphase flow simulators and PVT packages.
  • Experience and ability to complete large customer projects
  • Experienced in the different codes and standards

Nice to have

  • Software development experience in python, JavaScript or C++
  • Knowledge about software testing methodologies and tools
  • Interest in cloud technologies and real-time databases

Full-stack developer

We need to strengthen the software development team with a full-stack developer. You will be part of a highly innovative and dynamic team, developing our cloud-based software for the Oil & Gas industry using cutting edge technologies.

Key qualifications

  • Know Python and/or JavaScript by heart
  • Experience with at least one JavaScript framework (React, AngularJS 1.x/2.x…)
  • Experience with container technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge about or experience with
    • API design and frontend development
    • cloud environments, for instance Google cloud
  • Experience with all phases of software development

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in any relevant discipline
  • Familiar with industry standard tools (Git, Npm…) and methods (TDD, Scrum…)
  • Experience with real-time databases (firebase, MongoDB…) and inter-process communication tools (RabbitMQ)
